and then burst into flames. this is north of new york. the mta says the dead include the woman driving the suv. she had gotten out as well as five train passengers. another 12 were hurt. a witness shot this video of the flames passengers say they felt the train lurch. many did not know what was happening and no one told them to get off for quiet sometime. 400 people were on board the packed train for the evening commute. when tow did get off the train authorities took them to a nearby gym for shelter. service on the line is now suspended in that area. as the news comes in on this of course we'll bring the right to you. dozens of frosts march to go night demanding justice foreman shot and killed by police in bridgeton the entire confrontation caught on police dash cam back in december. sparking outrage in the community. good evening, i'm iain page. >> i'm lucy noland and fox 29's dave schratwieser is live in bridgeton. dave? >> reporter: lucy a protest a march on city hall and then a confrontation tonight between

demonstrators and city council after protesters insisted they wanted to be heard in the shooting death of jerome reid by police. >> jerome reid! >> reporter: captaining jerome reid's name protesters gathered at the very spot where the 36-year-old was shot to death by police five week ago. they demanded an independent investigation. >> they they should ensure the fair and impartial investigation investigation. >> we most certainly have no faith in the cumberland counti' prosecutor's office. >> reporter: dozens protested at south and henry streets under the watchful eye of police. reid's death was caught on tape by a dash camera. they say they shot reid six times. police ordered received and another man from the car after they spot add gun inside. >> it has i'd say painted community deeply not surprised the community which is

down this service road heading over to the bus stop right by that no outlet sign but a man grabbed him in the process. you're looking at a sketch of a man wyomissing police say startled an 11-year-old boy grabbing him as he was walking to the schoolbus monday morning. >> it's very very scary. i actually dropped off my kids this morning at school instead of dropping them off at the bus and you know, i think i'll be doing that more often. >> it's kind of weird for this area. you don't really see that kind of thing in with yo my sink area. >> reporter: police say it happened when the boy was walking on a service road that runs between the madison and wynnewood park apartments. he was closing in on the bus stop on park road north when the suspect closed in on him. >> he made some mention to the child to declare his intent basically and grabbed him on the arm. the child was able to get away from his grasp and flee the area. >> reporter: something like come with me or something -- >> words to that effect. >> reporter: this parent says

she's friends with the victim's mother. >> she's terrified. i mean, which is normal. i would be, too. >> reporter: boy got to the bus and made it to wilson west middle school where he alerted officials there. >> two detectives from the wyomissing police department came over, spoke with the student and got a good description of what he saw. >> this attempted abduction comes on the heels of two a em attempted lurings last week. one in reading township. on the in burn township. >> the suspect description is loosely the same as here i do not -- i can't confirm that it is the same suspect or that it's relateed to those other two. >> reporter: wilson school district and police are now working extra close to protect students. >> hopefully they'll get to the bottom of this and again make people feel more comfortable that this all has been taken care of. >> reporter: there's a surveillance camera on that gas station pointed this way. police are checking that camera. they're also checking cameras at nearby businesses to see if there's video of this incident while they work to catch this

person and get hmm off the street. in wyomissing dave kinchen fox 29 news. a bank robber walks into a rittenhouse square bank, claiming to be armed with a hand grenade. you can see the man holding something and investigators say he slipped the teller a threatening note demanding money. this all happened at susquehanna bank on wall in the street just before 5:00 o'clock. the robber got away with cash before taking off the fbi's warning the man is considered armed and dangerous so call them or philadelphia police if you've got any information. a story still developing in the middle east tonight. a video released online appears to show isis militants setting a jordanian pilot on fire burning him to death. isis captured the 26-year-old when his jet crashed in syria back in december. tonight the king of jordan met with president obama and vice-president biden hours after the king vowed revenge for today's video. the victim's father was attend attending tribal meeting in jordan when news of the video's release surfaced. jordan's government had said it

was willing to trade an al-qaida prisoner for the pilot but it wanted proof of life first. isis has released a series of grizzly videos showing the killing of captives including two american journalists an american aid worker and two british aid workers. >> radnor homeowner found something in a bedroom that's pretty stunning if you're not expecting it a bullet on the floor. that homeowner heard something hit the house on bryn mawr avenue last week it wasn't until a few days later that the person found the bullet. officers say it blew through the bedroom wall, landed on the floor. gunfire also hit a street sign nearby and so now the investigation is on into what happened. ex philadelphia police employee is under arrest tonight for theft. authorities say a former clerk at the police department's auto pound unit was supposed to keep records of impounded vehicles. >> instead she broke the rules and stole them to keep them for herself. fox 29's bruce gordon has more on this story. >> reporter: police intend affairs investigators say sharon hammet spent 25 years as clerk

at the police department's auto pound unit. her job was to document whether impounded vehicles were accept to auction or season off to the salvage yard. but twice between 2005 and 2010 authorities claim hammet doctored pope washington to make it look like two all terrain vehicles were properly disposed of. when in fact she had taken possession of those atv's for herself and her husband. a third atv was purchased by the hammet's's in 2003. later wept missing it was confiscated by police in 2005. investigators say hammet took possession of that vehicle without the court order necessary to release it from police custody. sharon and john hammet each face multiple counts of theft forgery tampering with documents. she resigned from the police department back in december. no one answered the door of their northeast philadelphia home when i went there seeking comment. at police headquarters i'm bruce gordon fox 29 news. for someone who hasn't declared he's run fog the white house he is sure looking like he

they believe the call originated originated. authorities evacuated the courthouse. searched it but found nothing. if you recognize the guy in the video give police a call. >> one woman arrested and charged in connection to violent fight in philadelphia's tioga nicetown neighborhood. we first told you about this story when it was breaking last night. 33-year-old lashonda anderson is charged with attempted murder and other related offenses for the incident. yesterday two women told police they were confronted boy a group of four women at a laundromat near fox and roberts avenue. the confrontation later moved to second location on roberts avenue and gunfire broke out. anderson is accused of of shooting one of the women in the legs. both are now reported in stable condition tonight. more trouble for trump taj mahal casino set to get a big influx of cash before trillion nair carl icon. the workers union filed unfair labor practice charges against casino owners today. employees claim they were

threatened and they were had work schedules changed. icon call the old union rules quote outdated and unto have unaffordable. the taj will get the first installment of $20 million this thursday. his parent company repeatedly threatened to close the casino last fall. stepped in with the money to keep it a float. mandatory paid sick leave one step closer to becoming law in philadelphia. the business community has fought the issue for years but a city council committee voted unanimously today to approve the plan. it allows employees of small businesses to earn sick time to attend to their own health or that of a family member. city council will vote on final passage next thursday. missed it by that much. just two points philadelphia university herb magee from joining an exclusive club tonight. magee is chasing victory number 1,000. >> but his team lost to wilmington.

the basketball hall of fame. even fellow philly coaches came out to support his bid for history. >> i hope herb knows how much people appreciate him and he's not only accomplished great things he's just a wonderful guy an friend and just a goodman on top of it. >> among those in attendance former governor ed rendell and philly's president david montgomery. magee's former players decades worth coming to see their former coach who has given so much to the game. >> it's such a special person to see that has stayed with one university and one job and touched so many athletes, hundreds of athletes over his 50 year career. >> it's a great accomplishment. it's very difficult to win a thousand games. so many great basketball teams great basketball players. just to win a game, it's crazy. >> magee can't wait to break the milestone.

>> right now at 10:30 more video from that horrific commuter trip accident tonight just north of new york. you can see the smoke pouring from that metro north train now gutted by fire and the flames are also kicking up in this video. six people have died. many others hurt. the train hit a jeep on the tracks. take look at some of the pictures pouring in from social media tonight. as many as 400 people were on

this commuter train that left grand central staying at the height of rush hour around of quarter of six lot of people had their phones ready. you can see the flames and smoke in these shots from instagram and people evacuating in the snow right off the side of the tracks out of the burned train car. >> back here at home a calendar quagmyer could force some students bag to school before labor day this year of course traditionally many students return the tuesday after the unofficial end of summer. >> but because it falls so late this year september 7th some thing might have to change and one school district wants to know if families are up to it? fox 29's shawnette wilson spoke with families in the garnet valley district in delaware county today. shawnette, how do these families feel about a possible interruption to their labor day? >> reporter: well, iain, that depends on who you ask. in the meantime parents are being asked to help decide by filling out this survey which simply reads my family prefers to begin the school year either before labor day or after. this is a traditional end to summer for many families in our

area. a last day down the shore before it's back to the books back to weekly extracurricular activities, back to school. but whether families get that last hoorah is up in the air. >> this year we had an unusual situation in that labor day is really late. >> that's causing mark, the superintendent of the garnet valley school district to rethink when to start the school year next year. typically it's the tuesday after labor day. >> from the educational side you would think about that is because now with all the state mandated testing that occurs in april we have our keystone exams in january and may. try to get many instructional days in as you can. >> reporter: but he says there's also the cultural side. >> with especially labor day for some families that's their last big vacation before the school year starts. the work schedules really ramp up. so we certainly didn't want to make decision and then have several students not attend that

first week because their parents had already made vacation plans. >> reporter: school officials are asking parents to weigh in. this survey went out in an e-mail blast to parents and teachers. people we caught up with at a basketball game at garnet valley high school aren't sure their ready for a change. >> i think they should start afterwards that way you have the whole summer and finalize the whole summer with labor day bash down the shore. >> i just think that everybody looks forward to that last holiday labor day weekend and i think it stay the same. >> my girls play baseball year round during the summer so generally that's my weekend but education is more important than my vacation. >> reporter: parents were pleased the distract is asking for their input and officials say it will weigh heavily on their decision. >> one thing we never want to have happen in our district is solicit people's feedback and already have a decision in mind much this is is an open process.

>> too cold for all of that. let's look at the temperatures right now. it's cold. below freezing. but look at the wind chills in the teens so you still need to bundle up if you're stepping outdoors tonight and first thing tomorrow morning. but look how cold it was to start. 20 degrees was the low. the high only 30. and look at this. we should be in the low 40s this time of year but tomorrow we'll actually warm into the mid 40s so above average temperatures for a change and it's the one-day special tomorrow afternoon. but look at the numbers right now. 25 wilmington. 18 already in millville. we have eight in the pocono mountains, and as we take a look at ultimate doppler here's our clipper system. a part of this energy right now over sections of the great lakes will continue moving toward the west and by tomorrow morning yeah there could be few flurries toward the pocono mountains and perhaps the lehigh valley but most of us will just see some cloud cover to start early tomorrow morning then break out into sunshine and out ahead of this front tomorrow during the day those temperatures warm into the 40s but that arctic front

arrives overnight wednesday north and west and continues to move toward the philadelphia area thursday morning for that commute. here's the clock. 6:00 a.m. we're looking at that strip, that ribbon of some light snow moving by 7:00 o'clock toward philadelphia, i-95. but by 9:00, 10:00 o'clock it really starts to fizzle out and run out of gas. so behind it we're looking at another arctic bitterly cold air mass moving in and then by the second half of the weekend we'll be watching another area of low pressure move from west to east. and that will have some moisture with the. it looks like a mixed combination some rain, some snow some sleet. but right now it looks like the better chances for accumulateing snow, the farther north and west you head. south and east of i-95 lesser amounts. we still have a lot of time to focus on that forecast. but for tonight increasing clouds cold, teens in the bushes. low 20s in the city, and then tomorrow there could be few morning flurries north and west. otherwise, it's going to be
